TRALEE JOHNSON, MA, MFT is a mathematics teacher and counselor in the SF Bay Area with a knack for teaching students who: are capable, but under performing; are good students, yet suffer from math anxiety; are female students who may benefit from studying with a female role model; are being home schooled; and are adults returning to school and preparing for Standardized Tests such as the GRE or the CBEST.
Great Math Tutoring (formerly "The Mathematics Tutor") opened in January, 2012 after Tralee taught math in public schools for 10 years and then decided she preferred one-to-one instruction. Tralee started her tutoring career earlier as an undergraduate at UCLA. She received her teaching credential in Math and Psychology from San Francisco State University.
She trained as a Life Coach at The Coaches Training Institute, has a Master's degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from JFK, earned her Pupil Personnel Services Credential at St. Mary's of California, has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy in the state of California since 1991, worked as a BTSA coach (new teacher support provider), provided Neurofeedback to vets at the VA in Martinez, and been an eastern meditator since 1987. She played, and later, coached women's volleyball at Laney College, taught harmonium to music lovers, and loves dogs.

Tralee worked with my 12 year old daughter once a week for over a year, and it was a very beneficial experience. My daughter had been struggling in math for quite some time, and we had tried other group tutoring services. Finding a one-on-one tutor who cares as much as Tralee does about each student was exactly what my daughter needed at that time. Tralee helped my daughter spend a productive additional hour each week going over homework or reviewing material that had not “sunk in” during the school week. Tralee is very flexible, happy to try different ways of getting to a new level of understanding, and she was also happy to work with my family’s busy schedule. I would certainly recommend her to others.
